Look no further than the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energy conference, where Zambia’s Minister of Finance and National Planning, Situmbeko Musokotwane, will be sharing strategic insights into the country’s energy sector.
Zambia is actively seeking to enhance investment flows within its energy sector to improve energy security. With the introduction of the Demand Stimulation Incentive and the 1,000 Mini-Grid Initiative, Zambia is paving the way for accelerated energy access through innovative financing mechanisms.
At the AEW: Invest in African Energy conference, Minister Musokotwane will discuss the country’s cooperation with global financial institutions, such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank, to attract private sector investment and advance power projects. Additionally, Zambia is prioritizing cooperation with regional counterparts in the oil and gas industry to secure petroleum supplies and fund infrastructure projects.
One notable project is the expansion of the Tanzania-Zambia Crude Oil Pipeline by Zambian company Tazama Pipelines, which will enable Zambia to capitalize on oil and gas from upcoming projects in the East African region. Furthermore, partnerships with Angola and Namibia are set to enhance oil and gas imports and develop new pipeline projects to tap into growing energy potential.
In-country, private and public entities are also adopting new financing mechanisms to support infrastructure growth, such as the Micro-Financing LPG project launched by Puma Energy and Zanaco. Minister Musokotwane will have the opportunity to discuss these incentives and policies at the AEW conference, highlighting the positive investment climate in Zambia’s energy sector.
