Montclair State University Seeks Vice President for Finance & Treasury

As the VPFT, you will lead a team of over 60 members and oversee all aspects of financial management, treasury functions, and fiscal planning. You will work closely with the chief operating officer and senior vice president for finance and administration to develop and implement administrative plans that align with Montclair’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of financial and administrative leadership experience in higher education, as well as a strong understanding of the challenges facing public research universities. You must possess excellent communication skills, the ability to lead change, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of financial functions, including financial analysis and planning, financial reporting, audit and compliance, debt and treasury management, procurement management, and risk management. You will also provide leadership and management to a team of business unit heads within the Finance Department.

To be successful in this role, you must have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, as well as a master’s degree or CPA certification. Preferred qualifications include senior finance/accounting experience at a similar size public university and knowledge of financial software such as Workday.
