Financial Services Insight Day for Girls at Edinburgh Napier University

Are you a young woman interested in exploring a career in financial services? If so, you’re in luck! More than one hundred girls from Scottish schools, universities, and colleges will have the opportunity to participate in a financial services insight day at Edinburgh Napier University on Tuesday, June 11th.

This event, organized by the charity Future Asset, aims to provide students aged 15-21 with a comprehensive overview of the various career opportunities available in the financial services sector. From front-office roles to back-office positions, students will have the chance to learn about the different paths they can take to enter this exciting and dynamic industry.

Throughout the day, students will attend workshops on apprenticeships, school leaver posts, graduate schemes, and internships. They will also receive valuable tips on how to perfect their CVs, ace interviews, and build the necessary skills and experience to succeed in the field.

But the learning doesn’t stop there! Students will also have the opportunity to visit the offices of sponsoring companies, including Aegon, Baillie Gifford, BlackRock, and many more. This hands-on experience will allow students to meet industry professionals, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work in financial services.

Colin Anderson, representing the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), emphasized the importance of introducing young women to the diverse range of careers available in the financial services sector. With the industry already being the largest contributor to the Scottish economy, there is no shortage of opportunities for talented and ambitious individuals to thrive.

Helen Bradley, CEO of Future Asset, highlighted the organization’s mission to empower young women to pursue fulfilling careers in finance. With research showing that many young people are unlikely to consider a career in financial services, events like the financial services insight day play a crucial role in bridging the gap and inspiring the next generation of female leaders in the industry.
