Navy Financial Management Analyst Receives Lifetime Service Award
In a world where job hopping is becoming more common, Mildred “Millie” Camacho stands out as a shining example of dedication and commitment. With an impressive 52 years of service for the Navy, Camacho has recently been honored with the prestigious Peggy D. Craig Lifetime Service Award.
Camacho currently works as a financial management analyst for Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, NavFac, Marianas. Her dedication to her work has not gone unnoticed, as Capt. Troy Brown, NAVFAC Marianas commander, presented her with the Peggy D. Craig Lifetime Service Award in recognition of her 50-plus years of service for the Navy.
The Peggy D. Craig Award is not given lightly, and is reserved for individuals who exemplify a career of service, selflessness, and dedication to the Navy. Camacho’s commitment to her work and her unwavering dedication to the organization make her a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
Reflecting on her long and successful career, Camacho credits her sister for setting her on the path to civil service. After returning home to Guam at her sister’s request, Camacho was encouraged to take the necessary tests to enter the civil service. This decision ultimately led to her long and fulfilling career with the Navy.
Throughout her career, Camacho has faced challenges and obstacles, but she has always remained steadfast in her faith and trust in the Lord. She believes that staying positive and learning to adapt to difficult situations has been key to her success.
Despite her many accomplishments, Camacho remains humble and grateful for the recognition she has received. She continues to challenge herself both in her work and personal life, waking up before sunrise each day to work out and stay healthy.
For Camacho, her work with the Navy is a family affair. One of her daughters, Karianne Camacho, also works for NAVFAC Marianas and has been inspired by her mother’s dedication and commitment to her work. Karianne fondly remembers late nights at the end of the fiscal year when her mother would come home late, tirelessly working to ensure the Department of Defense met its mission.
