Union Hill ISD Administration Addresses Financial Issues and Program Cuts
Title: Union Hill ISD Faces Financial Crisis: Programs Defunded and Personnel Cuts Made
In a recent announcement, Union Hill ISD administration addressed the rumors surrounding the financial issues the school district has been facing. With close to a $1 million deficit, the district had to make some tough decisions in order to resolve their financial problems.
Interim superintendent John Booth, with 28 years of experience, was brought in to help fix the district’s finances. In an effort to cut costs, the district had to make $700,000 in personnel cuts, which included cutting programs such as the band program, elementary music program, and various staff positions.
Additionally, several programs will no longer be funded, including junior high cheerleaders, junior high baseball, and more. Booth emphasized that the level of funding for other programs will also be impacted, as the district works towards financial stability.
Despite the drastic cuts, Booth made it clear that there was no indication of any wrongdoing or mismanagement of funds. He attributed the financial crisis to a “perfect storm” of various factors coming together at once.
The goal is to fix the financial issues and ensure a strong school for the upcoming year. While the cuts may be difficult, the district is focused on moving forward and providing a quality education for its students.
